Project Description:
Bridgewater Gateway Premier Inn consists of a 100 bed timber frame hotel built over 3 storeys at the Bridgewater Gateway Business Park in Somerset. Built over a partial single storey steel frame and composite deck transfer slab and featuring a curved façade at one end, the hotel was built as part of a fast tracked construction process that delivered the whole scheme in 38 weeks.
Working with MTE:
Working with MTE (Leicester) Ltd, Optima Offsite Ltd provided Design and Pre-Construction Management support to integrate the MTE timber frame superstructure into the hotel design.
Optima managed the timber frame package from initial concept designs through to factory drawings, highlighting risk items throughout the design process and developing and communicating solutions with the project team. Working closely with the design team including Axiom Architects and Simpson Associates along with main contractor Carter Lauren, Optima were able to offer concise technical and commercial input to align the timber frame specification with the client requirements.
The architectural specification required a solution for the feature curve cladding to the prominent end of the site. Optima supported MTE engineers and design team to provide a curved timber frame panel solution that was developed with both factory manufacture and site installation in mind.
Optima represented MTE at design team meetings and acted as main point of contact for the timber frame package during Pre-Construction and Design stages. Other key specification items including external sheathing, fire, acoustic and air tightness details were identified and included within the timber frame solution from an early stage.
